For years I ran Gallery for my photo archive. Security issues and lack of attention to update it led it to being a spam filled cess pool. It also took a huge amount of space. I've uploaded everything to Imgur and loving it. Well worth the couple bucks a year for the Pro Account.
It can take a while to load all the albums, but once loaded, photo loads are snappy
